Where to source flowers, leaves and other floral material
Florists. Florists and florist shops are generally expensive especially those in malls. But many of the flowers you will use for flower pressing are small ones that are produced in clusters, so they will go a long way.
For example, a single bunch of Baby’s Breath or Gypsophila from a florist will provide you with material for months to come.
Nurseries Make friends with your local nursery man and ask him to take you around the nursery. Explain to him the types of flowers you need and he will probably be more than happy to assist you.
Your own garden. The best option, of course, is to grow flowers in your own garden. Material for pressing should be as fresh as possible and you can’t go wrong using flowers from your own garden.
Window boxes. If you don’t have much space to grow flowers, think of planting them in window boxes or put them in containers on your patio. See Container-planting
Farms If you are lucky enough to have access to a farm you will have an abundance of material to choose from. Be sure to keep your flowers and green material fresh in cold water.
Farmers’ markets. Flower farmers take their flowers and greenery to markets where you can pick and choose to your heart’s content.
Be careful not to buy up too much in one go because you wont be able to press everything. Rather buy less more frequently
